Hello, I'm Moe Matsuo, wife of the owner-chef at Ludeek, a chocolate confectionery shop near Ohori Park in Fukuoka. In this post I'll explain what Dubai chocolate mochi is, what makes ours special, how to find our store, and how to carry it as a souvenir from Fukuoka.

What is Dubai chocolate mochi?
The trend began with a chocolate bar made by Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai: milk chocolate filled with pistachio cream and kataifi, a thin shredded pastry that turns crisp when baked. A TikTok video posted at the end of 2023 made it famous around the world. Source: Food & Wine
Dubai chocolate mochi wraps that pistachio and kataifi combination in mochi. At Ludeek we use gyuhi, the soft, stretchy mochi used for Japanese daifuku. The result is soft and chewy on the outside and crunchy on the inside, with the texture changing in a single bite.

We make everything by hand, including the mochi dough. First comes the fluffy, chewy gyuhi, then the crunch of kataifi baked crisp in butter. The filling is Italian pistachio paste with white chocolate, so every bite brings pistachio aroma and rich butter flavor.

How to thaw and enjoy it
Move it from the freezer to the fridge about 3 hours before eating. If you want it sooner, leave it at room temperature for about 30 minutes. The mochi is softest right after thawing. Try cutting one in half to see the green filling before you take a bite. Once moved to the fridge, please eat it within 3 days.
How to get to our store near Ohori Park
Ludeek is in Arato, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City. From Hakata Station, take the subway Airport Line to Ohorikoen Station (about 10 minutes, no transfer). The store is a 9-minute walk from Exit 1, so it's easy to stop by after a walk around Ohori Park.

Taking it as a souvenir
We hand it to you frozen. With a cooler bag, you can carry it for up to 6 hours. Without one, you can still carry it at room temperature for the rest of the day; in that case, please eat it the same day. Pick it up at the end of your sightseeing or shopping, just before heading back, to keep the carrying time short. In-store purchases come with a free brown paper bag.
Tax-free shopping is not available. Rules for carrying food on planes or bringing it into other countries depend on the airline and country, so please check them yourself before you travel.

Our online shop sends sets of 5 or 10 by frozen courier. We deliver within Japan only, so you can send them to family or friends in Japan, or to your accommodation. Delivery dates can be chosen from 4 days to 2 months after ordering. We accept credit cards (VISA / Mastercard / JCB / AMEX), Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPay and Amazon Pay.
